OPNsense

OPNsense provides Dynamic DNS through the os-ddclient plugin (System › Firmware › Plugins). The plugin supports a custom server using the DynDNS 2 protocol.

The plugin's form has changed between OPNsense releases. The field names below match the current plugin; if yours differ, use the equivalents: service Custom, protocol DynDNS 2, server ddns.justasrv.com, and your hostname and token as username and password.

Configure

  1. Install os-ddclient, then open Services › Dynamic DNS. Under Settings, enable the service.
  2. Open Accounts and add one:
    • Service: Custom
    • Protocol: DynDNS 2
    • Server: ddns.justasrv.com
    • Username: acme-main.ddns.justasrv.com
    • Password: the jas_… token
    • Hostname(s): acme-main.ddns.justasrv.com
    • Check ip method: Interface (a WAN with a public address) or a web-based method. JustASRV uses the address the request arrives from either way.
    • Force SSL: enabled, if shown.
  3. Save and apply. The account list shows the current address and last update time.

Status thresholds

ddclient reports on change only (with a very long forced refresh). Either set long thresholds on the hostname (for example Stale after 43200 minutes / 30 days, Offline after 57600), which makes the status reflect only "has it ever gone quiet for a month", or add the Linux or Windows updater at the site as a heartbeat with its own credential.
