UniFi

UniFi gateways (UDM, UDR, UXG, UCG, Cloud Gateway) have a Dynamic DNS feature under Settings › Internet › (WAN) › Dynamic DNS built on inadyn. Its behaviour for custom providers has varied between UniFi Network releases.

Known limitation, verify on your firmware. JustASRV accepts updates only over HTTPS, because the token would otherwise cross the Internet in the clear. Some UniFi releases send custom-provider updates over plain HTTP. Those updates are redirected and fail, and the UniFi DDNS status never turns green. If that happens on your gateway, do not work around it: use the Windows or Linux updater on an always-on machine at the site.

Try the built-in client

  1. Service: custom (or dyndns if custom is not offered).
  2. Hostname: acme-main.ddns.justasrv.com
  3. Username: acme-main.ddns.justasrv.com
  4. Password: the jas_… token
  5. Server: ddns.justasrv.com/nic/update?hostname=%h&myip=%i

Then open the hostname in the JustASRV portal. A good or nochg entry in the update history within a few minutes confirms the gateway is working. If the history stays empty, the gateway is not reaching the HTTPS endpoint: use the updater.

Status thresholds

inadyn on UniFi updates on change and periodically. Start with Stale after 1560 and Offline after 3000 minutes and adjust after observing the update history.
